Painter, sculptor and graphic catalan artist . He was republican combatant in the Spanish Civil War who settled in Paris in 1939. He is one of the most important figures in contemporary art. His work was initiated by a ceremonial, decorated and violent baroque chromaticism. From the fifties his schemes will simplify, reducing the chromaticism and giving off the superfluity. In last years his work was totally abstract, debugging of formal schemes.
