Equipo Crónica fue fundado en 1964 por Manolo Valdés, Rafael Solbes y Juan Antonio Toledo. Entre el Pop Art y la nueva figuración parisina, el grupo interpretó los objetos a través del contexto político-social, es decir de la dictadura española y del expansionismo americano, recurriendo a la ironía. Inspirados también por los maestros de la pintura tales como Picasso o Velázquez hicieron múltiples citas pictóricas de Guernica, las Meninas...

Os presentamos la escultura de Equipo Crónica titulada La Manera de Delvaux o Santa Eulalia, de 1973, un homenaje a La Manera de Delvaux de Marcel Duchamp datada de 1942, que a su vez también era una referencia a un detalle de In the manner of Delvaux de Paul Delvaux.

Equipo Crónica was founded in 1964 by Manolo Valdés, Rafael Solbes and Juan Antonio Toledo (who left soon the group). Equipo Crónica’s style was between Pop Art and the new Figurative Art from Paris. The group interpreted the objects with a political and social context view, during the Spanish dictatorship and the American expansionism, usually using the irony. They were also inspired by the old masters like Picasso or Velázquez. In fact, they did many pictorial references to the  Guernica and the Meninas...

We show you a sculpture by Equipo Crónica titled In the Manner of Delvaux or Santa Eulalia, from 1973. It is a homage to “In the Manner of Delvaux” by Marcel Duchamp dated from 1942, which was at same time a reference to a detail of “In the Manner of Delvaux”, by Paul Delvaux.
