Lita Cabellut nace en 1961 en España. No recibe ninguna educación hasta los 13 años cuando ingresa en escuela donde comenzará sus primeros estudios artísticos. Al cumplir los diecinueve se trasladó a La Hague en Holanda donde prosiguió su formación en la Academia Rietveld de Amsterdam.
Os presentamos dos obras de Lita Cabellut tituladas Emma y Pepa, del año 2007. Emma y Pepa representan dos prostitutas que nos desvelan rostros de dolor y melancolía. El trabajo de Cabellut está basado en las memorias e impresiones personales de su vida en la ciudad de Barcelona y su relación con los ladrones, trileros, clowns, travestis y prostitutas con los que trato en su infancia. Nos traslada hacia los dramas del tiempo y los dramas individuales que nos transforman tanto físicamente como espiritualmente. La presencia del rojo y del negro que usa la artista, se identifican con la tradición española mientras que la espontaneidad de trazos anchos la sitúan en la modernidad.
En fin, esas mujeres provocadoras y deformadas nos invitan a considerar la vida urbana según su coherencia y su complejidad.

Lita Cabellut was born in 1961 in Spain. She does not receive any education up to the thirteen years old when she joins school for her first artistic studies. When she was nineteen years old, she moved to The Hague in Holland to continue her formation in the Academy Rietveld of Amsterdam.
We show you two works by Lita Cabellut titled Emma and Pepa, from 2007. Emma and Pepa represent two prostitutes who reveal us faces of pain and melancholy. Cabellut’s work is based on memories and personal impressions of her life in Barcelona and her contact with the thieves, trileros, clowns,transvestite and prostitutes from her childhood. It moves us towards time tragedies and individual dramas that transform us physically and spiritually. The presence of the red color and of the black color that the artist uses, can be identified with the Spanish tradition while the spontaneity brushes situed her into the modernity.
Anyway, these provocative and deformed women invite us to consider the urban life as its coherence and its complexity.
